As title really. I'm rebuilding a crash damaged cerb mk2 and it really needs a new shell. I can't seem to find a mk2 she'll to replace it with so I'm wondering what are the differences between a mk2 and a mk1 so I can assess the viability of getting a mk1 and converting it to mk2 spec. So far I know

1. The number plate is recessed on mk2 rather than flush on mk1

2. Windscreen black band is different size.

3. Windscreens side trim pieces are body coloured rather than carbon

4. Single bulb rear lights rather than fiesta clusters

5. Tuscan front lights

Are there any other changes I have missed?

You ve missed the roof line ridges on the mark II , they extend from the side trims on the windscreen.

Bugger! This isn't looking good. That means I'd have to replace the front end, rear end and roof panel!!!!

Ahh, ok, that sounds better. I do have a mk2 roof panel that could be used as a worst case though.

Later cars also adopted the larger transmission tunnel bulkhead clearance that was used for the sp6 engined cars .. the tunnel under the screen is much larger / recessed further back than on earlier cars. I don't think it's an easy change to make.

Nemasis will probably tell you they're all the same, and is in fact the same shell as used on every other tvr ever made. wink

Mine is a speed 6 so if I got a mk1 speed 6 shell would that not be the same?

Do you remember Edd China trying to drop the body onto the 'refurbed' chassis that Mike Brewer had presented him with ?
Do-able but with a LOT of God's help.

This makes starter motor access much easier than on earlier cars.

Are there any differences between a v8 shell and a speed 6 shell? Or is it just the chassis that are different?
