My Chim has failed its MOT on the space frame. Seemingly it is shot - corrosion at front and back.

I am based in Glasgow and I can't find anyone locally that is capable of undertaking the work. I think that I could be talking around 1500 (?) to resolve anyway which I would be reluctant to spend.

Anyone got any bright ideas? Should I just look to ebay as off the road?

Prob best to post some photos, if its just out riggers then around that figure but if its the main center rails too then you could be looking at a body off costing far more.

Never saw it on the ramp but it appears it is the out riggers from looking underneath and his description

From what I read, it is a 1600 quid job with the additional problem that I don't think anyone locally could do it

Have a search on the forum quite a few companies do the work, I think some were selling assembled replacement units ie ready to weld into the chassis rather than fabricate from scratch.

Find yourself either a local engineering shop or race car prep type place, you'll soon get a feeling from them wether they're confident if they're ability to do the work if it is outriggers.
It's a relatively straight forward job for a competent engineering shop.

Have you asked your local TVRCC guys?

Or maybe TVR Ecosse could help, or point you in the right direction?

Hi mate there's a TVR specialist in Callander not sure what they are called but I'm sure a google search will find it.

I have contacted both...and will see if either can do...

What do you think I would get for a '94 Chim 4.0 by ebaying without MOT / calling out the issue???

I tried to sell via TVR Ecosse last summer but nobody bit - I had a host of issues with it since it was left unused during this time and only just got it up and running again! bloody typical. I spent quite a bit last year to make it marketable and can't justify spending yet more cash. In the last year it has done <100 miles and cost me about 1500 quid!

I paid £3500 for a chim in need of chassis work + mot. (£500 of that was auction fees).

Get it up and running and actually use it! biggrin

If you're wanting rid asap, give central car auctions a call.
