Anyone had any success finding a group 1+ child seat for a Griff? The Recaro Young Sport fits the shape of the seat perfectly, but the standard Griff seat belt clip `stalk` is too long which means that the buckle is higher than the child seat fixing making it unsafe.

An option could be to change the seat belt stalk to a shorter one - is that difficult to do?

Thanks.

Chris

On my first Griff I replaced the passengers seat belts ( harnesses ) got replacements from Gerald's. Might be worth calling them.
And isn't there a firm called " Quick Fit" seat belts who specialise in one off Classic seat belt fits ?

It's not difficult to do. You can just slide the seat forward and unbolt it (I think you will need an imperial 5/8" socket, IIRC). To make life easier, you can unbolt the seat from underneath the car and lift the seat out to gain more access. The bolt has a ~1/2" spacer on it to allow it to pass through the fiberglass body.

The difficulty is finding the correct shorter seatbelt clip. I'm not sure which is the right car to take one from but hopefully someone else will know.

There are actually 2 seatbelt stalks which have been used on the Griff. One is about 6" and one is 18"
I'm guessing you have the longer one then?

I haven't measured it but definitely not 18", so the shorter of the 2. The stalk only needs to be about 2" shorter to be ideal.

My car has one of each. Does anyone know what car the 6" one comes from?

Put a shout out to anyone who has fitted Tuscan or Cerb seats. They need the longer one to clear the bolsters

What's the excess distance involved?

If it is just an inch then I wouldn't see any harm in a suitable base pad to elevate the baby seat to resolve the issue?

Tuscan seat fitted to the drivers side and still using the original short one. Harnesses as well, which I often use.

Think it needs to be about 2" shorter, but worth looking at thanks.
