Having recently moved up to Edinburgh I have left my really good Vauxhall garage behind... (I know, a real surprise to have great service from an actual dealers).

Anyone have any recommendations on where my new regular garage should be for a VXR?

What you need to know:
  • I'm down to one income and 1 1/2 kids, so slightly price sensitive and still want quality for my car so somewhere 'above average' is the aim.
  • I'm just looking for basic servicing rather than tuning: First job up is replacing brake pads then it'll be regular services and fixes etc.
  • I'm based out East and work in Leith, but flexible on where to go.
Advice/suggestions appreciated.

Hi Pernod, get the pads and we can do it on my drive one weekend if you like? Or my mates got a garage, it's in Newtongrange, so not too far away. Really good quality work.

A basic service can be carried out anywhere, just make sure quality fluids and filters are used. Same goes for the pads, as long as they are OE quality then there isn't much else to think about.

What part of Leith?

@Marcus - was going to do it on the driveway but all the advice for the rear pads seems to be "Unless you have a windback tool, pay a garage" rolleyes

Hi Pernod, i've the brakes to do on my astra and TT, and my mates S4 so will be buying a windback tool next month. If you can wait till end of July.
D&G round the corner from us are good, i've used them for tyres and mot and they are by far better than the usual tyre fitting places, they should manage to fit a couple of pads easy.
Or another pal has a garage at london road, really good as well and quite handy for your work to drop off and collect.
