I am trying to get replacement spark plug extenders for my Chim but everywhere seems to be out of stock! Have them on order with Clevor Trevor, but need them before i go to Classic Le Mans!!

Any ideas?

When I broke some of mine, I managed without some of them for a while until I had replacements. Cylinders 1 - 4 (the front 2 on each side) can have the HT lead straight onto the plug without touching the exhaust manifold if you're careful. The overall resistance change didn't seem to make much difference. The extenders are about 5k ohms resistance and the leads themselves are more than that.

This means that the leads will get quite hot but if needs must...?

The rear 2 on each side IMHO, definitely need the extenders.

My car definitely runs better without the extenders and socks fitted.

Unfortunately ACT are out of stock!! Seems to be a common problem!!

Think I'll give it a go removing the front 4 and then go from there. I suspect I know which one it is, number 4, but let's see what happens.

As a point of interest, where do you get the socks from? I've tried M&S but they don't seem to have any!!

Thanks for your help.

Supplier isn't getting back to any of them apparently. Ordered mine from Clever Trevor about a month and a half ago but eventually someone will give them a kick up the arse.

Just to confirm my understanding, you put the Standard HT lead onto the spark plug and this 'sock' just acts as an insulator to protect the HT lead from heat? It's not actually connected to the HT lead or the spark plug?

Thanks.

Just slide the ht lead in
Mine just over hang the lead at the plug end by about 1/2"

Thanks for the link. Bought them at £27.90 which is about 1/3 of the price of extenders.

Thanks for the offer and I did call this afternoon.

I don't think this is the problem as it only occurs when hot. What happens is that when i accelerate under load it feels as though i hit the rev limiter! This gets progressively worse until I am struggling to go up hills!!

Could it be the ecu or would that be there all the time?

Also I find the slow running difficult to set as seems to speed up! Running at 900 rpm most of the time but does creep up to 1100.
