I just wanted to put a brief post up in way of thanks to Dan Taylor and Taylor TVR in Ayesford, Kent.

On the way to Le Mans last Tuesday, happily cruising down the M20, we had a complete electrical power failure. A call to the AA and a flat bed ride later we are sat at the services with a very helpful AA man trying to diagnose the problem. We check fuses at the battery and check the alternator - final outcome is the infamous 100 amp fuse up under the (fixed) bonnet has probably gone or it's the alternator itself.

By this time it's past 11:00pm and we are trying to find somewhere to have the car delivered to to get it fixed. Taylor TVR have am emergency number and they are 20 miles away. We leave a message and 10 miuntes later Dan returns the call and says he will be in early the next day and will get straight on it.

After finally dropping the car at the garage at nearly 2:00am we trugde of to a local hotel. Whilst we were not up early the next day before we had showered there was a message from Dan saying all is well it's just the 100 amp fuse - brilliant service.

Anyway the point, I guess is, get your 100 amp fuse upgraded and carry the right tool to open the bonnet (our delays cost us £60 to change the ferry, £100 for the new hotel and £55 for fix). Or otherwise hope there is someone like Dan and Taylor TVR nearby. Thanks for the help Dan.

Just thought i would share this as we are quick to condem but not so fast to praise.

Happy motoring all.

After reading the "handbags at dawn" Le Mans thread (and despairing...) it's good to read a positive thread!

Great service should be recognised and publicised.

With regards to the 100amp "big fuse", I had the one in my Cerbera let me down with total electric failure shortly after buying the car, stranding me in a very public place (where the A1 joins the North Circ in London), which then necessitated a looooong journey back up to Sheffield on the "very nice man"s yellow flatbed truck......

Lesson learnt? Replace the "big fuse" as a service item every service. Cost pence, but failure is a royal PITA...
