Maybe paying the extra £200k over the price of a V12V for a V12 Zagato wasn't such a bad idea after all!

asking price & selling price are of course not the same thing ........

however the fact that they never got close to the 150 originally announced and then 101 revised production number certainly helps the value

1 of 60.

Have only 60 been sold ?

As a total of 101 was mentioned, does that mean the model is still available for customers ?

If still available for buyers to spec. at list, why would anyone buy this one at over list ?

That's been around a while
I suspect it will remain so with that price and colour combination

Order book opened in September 2011 - the original plan was to keep the order book open until the end of 2011/early 2012, with a £100k non refundable deposit required to get on the list - however many had ordered when the book was closed, up to a maximum of 150 units, that's how many would be built. That's where the original figure of '150 to be made' in the press came from. All cars were to be built between mid 2012 & mid 2013 - that was actually in the contract

I can say that with complete certainty because I was on the original interested list and still have the contract they sent me - unfortunately at £150k more than they had originally promised the price would be and without the performance upgrades they originally promised, that ruled me out !

Of course because of the struggle to sell the car, they extended the timing significantly and dropped the maximum production number to 101 - they knew they weren't ruling out sales by dropping the production number and at the same time, I guess thought the lower number would look more attractive

Sales/production of the car finished some time ago and I think they made a tiny number that weren't to meet specific customer orders, in the hope of future sales. There's no official figure but 50-60 max total production is a reasonable assumption

I guess they could make one to order now in the sense they wouldn't be breaking promises to customers but of course they are no longer working on cars with that engine, that exact chassis, etc. One imagines it would be easier for them to retrim & repaint an unsold car than start from scratch plus I suspect original Zag doesn't meet current legal requirements in quite a few countries

That car is already "famous" here in Holland. Appeared on some car shows, desperately looking for a buyer.

In fact in real life it does not look so bad (as most other Zagato's do......) but even for Euro 300K I would not go for it (new V12V S or McL 650S are much better choices imho).

Expect the price to drop significantly and buy it Q1 2015 for much much less if you are interested.

Never gave them any money ! the contract with the timescales asked for the money but I never signed it

thanks jon, though I have a very limited area of knowledge I can shed light on (as opposed to opinion) - just happens I followed this one closely at the start

agree with the poster above, price is bound to drop. In the scheme of things, would be relatively cheap to retrim in single tone leather should you wish - certainly no mare than a couple of % added to the purchase price. I quite like the exterior colour. Having said that if someone is actively looking for one and stumbles across this, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they stump up £500k for it, just unlikely !

I'd give them £200k for it.

If you own it and want to sell it for that....PM me.

Thanks

It surprised me that the Zag carried no improvement in performance to make it truly stand apart from a standard V12. Even more surprising when the V12S must have been in development. For me a Zag with extra power / suspension set up, etc., would have helped justify the price tag and then a year later, would have made the V12VS look like a bargain.

If you check the Aston database there are only 57 Zagato serial numbers but I am told there were enough parts to build 64.

Hi James. Tried to email you off forum but you're not set up. Not sure if you know of my V12V Register but I need to identify the Zag vins to help with my register. This is because both the zag and v12v, and v12vr use the same series of numbers.
I already have the first 42 zag vins but how can I identify the remaining 15 or so zag vins? I assume anyone can't just access the AM database?!
I don't need full vins just the last 4 digits.

Can you help?
Cheers Phil

Ps my register Is now 3 and a half years old and I've collated Info on 560 v12v's to date.
