Replacing wood veneer dash
Discussion
The wood veneer dash on my '99 450 is cracking badly, to the extent that I think sections of it will start to fall out soon.
I'm looking to replace like for like, so I want a replacement wooden dash. Not really interested in other alternatives; I personally think the wood veneer suits the car best.
A search has revealed London Carriage Craft, but their web site isn't working. I wonder if they no longer exist?
So, can anyone recommend someone who can supply and fit a wood veneer dash that looks similar to the original? Probably not looking to DIY this because it'll look s
t if I do it!
Any ideas what sort of cost I'm looking at?

You could DIY, Mr China shows us how in the link below, try from 11.20 onwards. Sorry for the dubbed version, couldn't find the original, Discovery channel and copyright infringement...

Classical dash in the High Wycombe I did an exchange for my dash, the car has spent 1 year with the dash in the heat and sun of France and no cracking. Ian did point out that the dash will crack in the future but it depends on the amount of heat and light it is exposed to, but his method of laying the veneer on the metal does allow for the rapid expansion of the metal backing..

Good luck with that. I like the walnut dash and would have loved to have kept mine but two radio panels in 3 years plus a car that lives outside means I plumped for stainless when mine went flaky. I wondered whether veneer on a marine ply backing might be a better bet but never got round to trying it (the work in stripping out and rebuilding means I only want to do it once, although it's not that difficult really).
