On a Griff 500? as I've just had my oil changed. It says in the bible that a Griff takes 5 litres, so I took 5 litres up the garage. He put the oil in and it was nowhere near it. I had to put another litre and a half in to put to the max line on the dipstick.

Do you have an oil cooler?, I need the extra 1.5 litres to fill the cooler.

I don't know, where would that be hiding? I haven't had one fitted, but that's not to say the previous owner didn't have one fitted. The old oil was quite black as well, and it has only been in there for 3000 miles. Mind you I've just done a track day.

Only have a 4.3, but it's 7.8 liters with a 24 row oilcooler.

I didn't buy enough oil either. Eventually it took near on 6.5 litres and that's without an oil cooler.

I put 6-7 Ltrs in mine last service. I got 2 x 4ltrs of Mobil1 15-50 and the remaining 1ltr went into it over the next 500 miles, after that it hasn't used much more since.

To be safe buy 8, I think it will also depend on the size of the oil filter a little, I have a big one
