Overtaking in a 30

This may have been done to death, but I've got to ask: WTF is wrong with people who tailgate cars in 30 zones and then overtake doing 40 or 50?
It's happened to me twice this weekend (both Audis funnily enough), with the latest one having to hit the anchors when a car came out of a junction into his path....he was not deterred and proceeded to overtake later on a bend....complete and utter knob, very fitting of a man driving an Audi convertible.
I'm sure both incidents were unrelated to the car I was driving, it's the fact that I didn't want to go beyond 30 that seemed to fuel the aggression.
Why is this on the increase??

It would have been really funny had he not almost caused a serious accident.
People like that make my blood boil, they're so pathetic, so predictable.
I think some speed limits are ridiculous and kind of like the idea of driving to suit the conditions.
But that could never be the law, could it?

Not sure I can offer an insight, but I am regularly amused by people I overtake who are doing 45 in a 60. I then slow to 30 in a 30 limit and they get right up my arse and suddenly become heroes trying to get past.

Too true, get 'monospeeds' around my way all the time. A steady 45mph no matter what the speed limit dictates. Never fails to raise a smile.

Yes. happens a lot these days. Often they GLARE across on the way past. If you are not in a town centre there are a lot of roads where, I think, going faster than the posted 30 limit is alright.
It may well be all right, but against the law.But if it's like a lot of the 30 zones around here (Devon) then what a lot of drivers sees is a twisting road lined by high hedges with no reason for it to be 30, so they do 40-50mph. What locals and residents see is a hamlet spread along a mile or so of road, with blind driveway exits, multiple footpaths crossing the road and no pavements.
Just because you don't perceive an increased risk doesn't mean there isn't one.

ts that start to overtake before the derestriction signs then seem surprised that i overtake them as soon as we leave the 30 . Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
