Since my k series is not yet roadworthy I have been disconnecting the battery each time I switch off to prevent any possible parasitic battery drain.

However a couple of times after maneuvering the car in and out of the garage I have noticed a very high pitch wine after switching off the ignition, clearly cars normally shut down on turning the key off but something is remaining on- can anybody suggest what this might be?

High pitch wine ? Hmm..I'd switch to an edgy Sancerre and avoid that new world stuff.

The Idle air control valves often make a high pitched noise on the EU3 engines for around a minute after switching off the engine.

My k vvc makes a high pitch sound for approx 2 mins on warm up some times does not even do it. It gets higher and higher pitched until it sounds intense then stops and runs sweet as a nut. Sounds like from starter motor area although very hard to pin point. Have replaced alternater As I was convinced it was that but its still there.

I don't worry about little noises till its clearly apparent now as there are quite a few that appear then disappear for weeks at a time.
It will stop when it's not happy is my theory. :-)

I have a Ducati 916 SPS which whines when I switch it off. I like to believe it´s the soul of the bike weeping gently as I abandon it for another lonely night in the garage, but in reality it´s just air whistling through a check-valve into the fuel tank to replace petrol now gone smile

The whining sound, is it something like "You love that car more than you love me"?
