Colleague has a poorly S-type (s/c?) and needs head gasket failure confirmed and fixed.

Likely Vardy cost will be prohibitive.

I seem to recall that the wee place round the corner from AW Autotech does a lot of work on Jags.

Anyone know or have alternative recommendation?

Always loads of Jags parked round there.

Very unusual to have HGF on the 4.2 V8 though. Hope your pal gets it sorted cheaply OP.

Anyone used him for newer Jags? I'm on the lookout for a decent indie for my 2008 4.2 XKR, I've had it with poor work from the official dealer at £130+vat per hour...

Not sure, no harm in asking. He's not a fan of the V8 but he has definitely worked on older ones at least. Another option may be John Wheeler at Kirkhill Autos if he's still there.
