V8S rear shocks

Hi all

Got told by garage today ive got a bust shock on drivers rear. I'm looking to replace the rears and I've done the forum searching best I could and found a few references to Avo shocks PG 718 for the rears and this is stated in the parts guide on here. It doesn't differentiate between front and rear so are they the same?

As another option does anyone know if avo recondition shocks as I think it's only the seal that's gone.

Shaun Pickering on 07811 108 123(SP Suspension)refurbished my rears for £90.00 + carriage & VAT. They were sand blasted and primed before I sent them to him and I finished the painting when they came back.

Hi joe. Cheers for coming back to me. Missed that thread when searching before somehow.

Seems like decent value. What does refurb with those guys consist of? Just in case it's not just a seal but something else more serous internally as well? Are they sealed units or dismantleable (made up word).

From memory, it was £40 per shock plus parts and mine just needed seals and the small internal spring in each. Obviously the price would have been more had I needed a new rod or valves etc.

They can be dismantled and repaired so worth considering as an option to new dampers. When you get them back you can very easily adjust the damping resistance (rebound) to make them stiffer (ie slower rebound) than the original factory set up. I'm very pleased with mine.

Thanks for the tips. Phoned round today and Avo themselves came up with £20 to look at them, fill with oil and reseal. Any damage to rod is just another £20 to replace that. 5-10 day turn around. Seems too good to be true! going to try that first.
