E type car number question

A question for curiosity's sake. When I bought my 2+2 a few years ago the previous owner told me he thought the car was the last car built in 1966. I beleive it definitely is a late 1966 car and that dovetails in with the fact that it was shipped here to NZ and sold new in about March 1967.( papers are at home, must accurately check that)
After I did some research at the time I did actually come with one site which seemed to confirm it, but I've lost that.
The car is on xke data and is 1E50675.
I've no idea whether being the last model of a year is a good thing or not , but as I say , I'm curious.
Any ideas from the petrolhead panel?

Probably is a good thing, when you consider this could be the last of an iconic car. The first will always be special, but a good point raised when you think there were no more produced after yours, and also a bit sad.

Personal opinion only, can't give any expert advice on whether it makes a real world difference though.

I mean just either the last e type built of 66, or possibly the last 2 plus 2 of 66, there were plenty after that.
Perhaps its a bad thing ,like some sort of a super friday car , with everyone rushing to get off to the christmas party.
Anyway , its anecdotal as I said , just curious as to whether there is something that might prove or disprove it. XKE Data has a run down on the numbers and what they mean , but those are grouped by model , not year.
As I also mentioned , somewhere ? I did actually come across a reference which had my car number as a 1966 model and the next one in the sequence was '67, but I've lost that.

I don't know about E-Types, but with XKs there are books that show which chassis number ranges were produced on a month by month basis. Is the same level of detail available of Es?

According to the JDC book, they have 1E50644 as a 1966 car and 1E50661 as 1967. However, that might be just the registration dates and nothing to do with manufacture. According to Skilleter and Porter, whose records we know are factory ones but in the day things weren't that precise, changes occurred to production in December 1966 from 1E50122, but that might and probably is several months adrift of reality.

I'm afraid there is no way of proving or disproving the story, but nice to think it is true though. Sorry I can't help further.

John - you should be able to find the actual build date and confirm the date of despatch by applying for a Heritage Certificate from Jaguar Heritage. The name of the original Dealer may also be recorded.
