Yes please - FVD do a 4.0 / 4.1 conversion. I'll have some of that please... However, recon you'll say good bye to any decent residules come time to sell...

I've got one

Not the same components as the Sharkwerks one, but pretty much the same end result. It's just completed 31K miles since it was built & still going strong - the car has done 116K miles in total. More torque at the wheels than a 4.0RS has at the flywheel. Love it!

Oh yes. I had the Cup cwp conversion on before I did this & reverted back to standard gearing because this is so tourqey it will pull the higher gearing. If I didn't do so many euro trips, I might have kept it but tbh, it's plenty quick enough as it is. Keeps my mates with 3.8RS's honest!

Would you mind sharing more details? Where did you source the kit from? Would look at doing this if I need to refresh the engine.

At $US30K for the upgrade...that strikes me as good value , especially if you'ver a leggy example which is due a refresh anyway.

$30K may be possible on a relatively fresh engine. I did it to mine when it had 85K miles on it & went for all the safety options on the "while you're in there" basis of welded water fittings, complete head porting with new guides & seats, new valves, new rods, oil pump etc. which all adds up. By the time you've got a decent exhaust on etc. you really don't see too much change from £25K

IMO, it's a false economy not to change everything in one hit when doing the refresh because a subsequent failure (assuming it does no additional damage - a big ask in itself) is going to cost £,000s in additional strip/rebuild costs.

Just don't even ask what it costs on a 996.1 engine - the rods on those are £1800ea + VAT!
