Looks like a Panhard of some sort, maybe a CD coupe?

There was an article on them a month or so ago in one of the Classic Car mags.

I don't think it is, can't find any images that look like that, the nearest being a Panhard Ghia concept car.

My initial reaction was DB HBR5, but it's clearly not that. It seems to have a front radiator grille, which suggests it's not a Panhard or Renault 4cv derivative. I reckon it's going to be a low-volume specialist maker.

(PS I don't know why I said Panhard - they WERE front-engined. But it's not an HBR5.....)

I'm struggling. It's not a Saab 2 stroke and the rear arches are the wrong shape for a Simca, Matra or Djet. The nose is too square for a Wimille and it's certainly not a Porsche 356! My last thought was a Duetsch Bonnet but they have vents in the front wings.

I can't think of any more French rear engined cars....

Is that the Hotel de France in Chartre-sur-Loire or do all Hotel de Frances look like that? Round the corner is the garage where John Wyer would store his cars during Les Vingt-Quatre Heures week. (Cue for more pics!)

Yes Bob, it is. I posted the photo on another thread.

The usual base for the Aston Martins (amongst others) in the past smile

I think I remember a Fairthorpe Atom derivative which looked like that.

I was thinking coachbuilt 356 or VW - some had decorative grilles at the front and the roof line looked the part - but I haven't found an exact match (yet!!)

The hotel still looks the same except that the flowers in the planters are bigger smile

I thought it might be a Fairthorpe but can't find one that looks like that.

I thought it may be an Abarth, like this one

But I am not so sure now, the squrae rear wheel arch is distinctive. It coul dbe a Simca or possibly an Alfa
