I'm of the opinion that all of these big bhp cars are simply getting too powerful for the majority of people. I reckon that about 350bhp is really all that anyone should need on a public road. I have a 475 bhp m3 and I find it just a bit too frantic for everyday use and that is from someone who really really likes going fast.

Where does it end? In ten years will the new M3 be pushing out 700bhp????? It's all getting a bit silly now and this is the consequence. Most people are incapable of handling over 400 bhp safely, particularly a torquey engine which I find masks your speed and you find yourself arriving at corners and a grand old rate of knots.

Maybe there should be a graded licence system like we have for bikes where you have to prove you can handle a car like this.
