Examining ECU Diagsnostics on the RV8
Discussion
Hi All,
My first visit to this hallowed Forum so I hope that you will forgive my general ignorance.
I have a friend over here (Luxembourg) who has a Griff and he sent me this email recently…
” Would you have an ECU fault reader for the rover V8 I could try ? I am convinced my Griffith is running too fat which is also the reason my engine compartment gets extremely hot as the unburned fuel gets burned in the cat. I will try to change the temperature sensor but I was wondering if you have some experience with diagnostic equipment. On the net I found the software RoverGauge that allows to connect your PC to the ECU.
Any experience or suggestions ?”
Being a Cerb owner that question would be answered by “Yes, download the ECU Diags from the Web, install on your laptop, hook it up to the ECU with a serial/USB cable and Robert is your father’s sister’s husband.”
I believe that is not the case with the RV8 and hoped hat someone could give us a guide, in similar fashion to the above-mentioned Cerb guide.
Can anyone help – or at least point us in the right direction ?
Ta !

RoverGauge is what you want. You'll also need the cable to connect to the diagnostic port and USB on the laptop Contact Mark (Blitzracing) he will make and sell you a cable and send you some instructions, but it's pretty straightforward. There are several on here who can help interpret the readings in RoverGauge once you've hooked it up although Mark and the writers of RoverGauge are probably amongst the most active.

As the ECU only manages fuelling it can only report on that but there can be some clues to other faults in that data or at least rule fuelling out as an issue
