Purchased an Second Hand Omega PO from a reputable dealer in January. Was assured it was all perfect and recently serviced when purchasing (of course this was verbal frown )

Now the PO has stopped working after 6 months and I have returned it for investigation.

Only to be told that it requires a £300 service.

what are people's opinions of this? I am of the mind that it shouldn't need a service so soon after purchase and if it does then I am not happy to foot the full bill.

Am also concerned that this is not an Omega service (I havent checked this but it seems very cheap for an Omega service) so could end up costing me more in the long run....

I have never heard of a 'reputable' dealer who didn't offer a one year warranty - and a stopped watch is definitely a warranty issue!

The service should be paid for by the dealer, no question. Whether they'd spring for Omega; I doubt it. However if they'll spring for indie money (300) you could add the extra ton or so to have it go through Omega perhaps?

My big concern with this would be that the service they're quoting for will be done by the same place that did the "recent" one before you bought it. If we take a (generous) definition of "recent" as "within the last year" then it was only about 18 months ago total. So you could well end up paying out £300 on a service that needs to be re-done in another 18 months.

If you like the watch I'd be inclined to walk away from the dealer and get quotes for servicing from somewhere that carries recommendations. You may take a hit in the short term but at least the watch will be right!

my thoughts exactly guys.

If they have any credibility they would sort it and return.

And if they expect me to pay I will be taking it directly to Omega and get it sorted properly!

Contacted them this morning and they apologised profusely that the girl who called me had dropped a clanger.... will be serviced and returned very soon.

They have also said they will warranty the watch for 2 years from date of service.

So am happy with that biggrin

Fair play for admitting their mistake and putting it right smile
