Passenger Door mirror decided to fly off.. Repair ?
Discussion
Driving back from London a couple of hours ago my door mirror near side glass decided it did't want to be on the car anymore.
From my pictures is this an easy fix where I can just get the glass?

It is due an mot in a weeks time and was going to give David Gerald a call,I presume this would be a mot requirement. Before I make the call and get them to order the necessary part thought I would ask you first to see what is needed.
Grateful for your opinions

Just a mirror glass is all you need, nice and easy.
Thanks for the reply shake n bake,So I can just get one of these? http://www.racetechdirect.co.uk/tvr-car-part-u0309...

With the rear view mirror and one drivers door mirror, it should pass the MoT OK. Passenger side mirrors were an optional extra as recently as the 1990s.
I got a 1995 Vauxhall Cavalier through an MoT in 2009 with the passenger side mirror missing.
To fix it you do just need the glass. It is stuck onto the heated plate and the bezel that holds it in is rotated by a small tag at the bottom.

Hopefully David Gerald can supply and fit while they have the car for m.o.t,even though you say it should pass if it's left to me to do then it could be in several months time.
Thanks again for confirming

Looking at that link again, it is for a non-heated mirror. It may well be good enough if you don't drive it in very cold weather.
Your photo shows the connectors dangling there, so you've lost the heater element as well because it would have been stuck to the back of the glass.
I did't realize I had heated.... I thought those wires were part of the electric side of things Your photo shows the connectors dangling there, so you've lost the heater element as well because it would have been stuck to the back of the glass.

So if I buy a heated glass one will it come with the heater element? Although it says quote..
"Mirror Glass LH Heated with Locking Ring..
Mirror glass LH (Heated with locking ring). Please note that the heated version of this item with the locking ring is no longer in production....
I think I could live without a heated one.Thx again for looking into for me.

Err, so where is the switch in the car for the heated mirrors please? Is it on the same switch as the heated rear window?
That's my reasoning for not knowing I had heated mirrors... I've been looking round the inside of the car looking for a switch I've missed over the last 12 months

From memorex it is a timer based thing when you plip the alarm/open the door they switch on for a period of minutes but if you then open/shut the doors again before starting the car they switch off.
Read this somewhere but can't find the thread at the moment - will keep looking.
It says in my owners handbook (bottom of page 15) that they are "...heated on an automatic time delay when the engine is started."Read this somewhere but can't find the thread at the moment - will keep looking.
If they switched on as soon as you opened the doors, you could take a fair bit out of the battery.
