Trucker roadblocks!!!!!!

I would like to just ask the question why.

Why when a dual carriageway or Motorway is being reduced in lanes do some truckers feel it necessary to block the decreasing carriageways some considerable distance away from the actual imposed filter.

Has it been proven that by creating a roadblock a couple of miles back reduces queuing or are they just mindless fktards who think because they drive big boys toys and are 'professionals' they can do what the fk they want.

Anyway I would love if a trucker can come along and say 'I do it because'.

mods please leave this in GG rather than Commercial break to reach the wider audience and if it's been dine to death sorry .

It has been done to death. It's the sort of thread where you just light the touch paper and stand well back!

As an HGV it's not something I would ever do. Simply, it's not my job to police the roads.

+1, i don't do it either, people that do are just pushing the queue further back, its as daft in my personal opinion as elephant racing. anyway this topic has just been done/still being done on another thread. its just that, the other thread didn't narrow it down to just the truck drivers. it looked at the bigger and more common picture.

On the rare occasions I've seen this I think it's amusing when they block the road. It's never inconvenienced me at all - but then I'm not one that will squeeze in at the last minute.

not a trucker but this is easy.....

You and fellow trucker are line astern at 55mph, when up comes a lane closure and queue (which is always farther back in lane one). At this point you have two options the one you mention or just staying line astern.

It's not hard to see that one involves endless cars going past them before they both reach the pinch point, the other doesn't. That's why they do it as it will mean they personally will get through quicker going side by side and blocking anyone overtaking (after all it annoys you because you can't get by and progress better, doesn't it? - does me!). It's as 'selfish' if you want to call it that as the late lane cutting in people.

We just need everyone to balance these queues, been in the inside lane on the approach to a queue with a slight inside to outside stagger then move into the outside and balance the queue up, don't feel bad about potentially sneaking in front of a couple of cars on the inside just think of it as doing your bit to ensure the queue remains relatively even and so the seemingly most hated late cutter inner's don't get a free 1/4 mile of overtaking in because everyone else is so polite and desperate not to be one!!
