fuel spill on hard left corners
Discussion
Hi
I need some advice on a fuel spill problem on my M. In hard left corners do the fuel enter the filler neck, and "piss" out of the breather hose that goes from the filler neck and out of the bottom of the cabin.
Is this a known M problem.... with any known solutions ?
There seems to be an breather hole in the filler cap dish, which allso leaks a bit in the corners.
I'm tempted to replace the complete filler neck and replace it with a "screw cap" solution, and make a seperate breather tank above the fuel tank ?

JUST fitting a Newton INSIDE the current filler neck, which along with a very long breather pipe, I hope will cure mine.

I stuck a round bit of brass with a small groove in it into the top of the breather pipe. (Tight push fit) It make the breather into a pin hole. Stops me getting black flagged on track days. When I open the filler cap there is sometimes a very small amount of pressure or suction but not if the car has been parked for a few minutes.
Adrian, would you please provide the Newton part number? I have a problem with fuel apparently getting by the rubber seal of the flip cap of my '77 M. The seal is pliable and I have increased the spring rate but no luck stopping fuel from running down the side of the car.
It appears from your photo that the Newton would fit under the closed flip cap. Is that so? That would be the perfect solution for my problem.
