Okay, I've only done 800 mile this year, approx 2-3k max year before insp 2, now 2 yrs ago. Would you get an oil change done?
Same for the diff oil...(grinding..)?

2 years is long enough for an engine oil. It still degrades and will be contaminated with various chemicals by now.

^^^ Yes, that's what I always have in mine. I've heard others talk about Millers too, but that Castrol Edge is the recommended one by BMW. Used to also be known as TWS

Confusingly, they also sell "Edge Sport" 10W-60, which is not the recommended oil for the M3
