I drove the M3 today - black on black - looked excellent.
Problem was it had 24 miles on the clock, so I was quite restricted in what I could do. This car will be for sale in 3 months so I am glad they didn't say thrash it tbh but I did mention to the dealer that demoing cars to people who are likely coming from E9x M3s, C63s etc then they need to be able to stretch the cars legs - he will call me back when it is run in.
thoughts (I'm in a C63 507 atm):
Looks - really good, very aggressive arches in M3
Interior - felt a bit low rent in terms of dashboard - 1 series quality
HUD - excellent
steering - bit numb but I need to push it more
gearbox - usual DCT goodness
sound - this was a big thing for me with a C63 - but it actually sounded better than I thought, based on reviews - you can clearly hear a difference switching to sports + when stationary - its louder.
Soundwise, it is not C63 good but still was ok.
So not really going above 5 odd k rpm left me quite cold and when the dealer asked me how the drive went I said it was just "ok" - I wasn't blown away like the first time I drove a e92 but nothing would blow you away if you cant stretch its legs.
So I will go back and test drive later - would I consider getting one - yes I would - especially because I would have high expectations on the handling being excellent if its an improvement on the e92.
One thing, when I got back in my c63 afterwards - it didn't feel dated or old
Dunc
