Just found this link on another F1 forum.

Honda's 2009 challenger looked to be pretty advanced - an even better car the the BGP001 that it evolved into perhaps?

Interesting read anyway if anybody has 5 minutes to kill smile

Blimey, it does make you wonder how 2009-2014 would have shaped up had Honda stayed. It also makes you wonder how they made such a pigs ear of 2007 & 2008.
The article does big it up as a kind of revolutionary car but in reality it's just a few new parts being tested. I recall the 2009 Toyota being bigged up too but it too was never tested against its peers so it was merely speculation.

Honda in those years was always fairly innovative but not enough to win the championships.

Interesting link, thanks.

Let's hope that this bodes well for the McLaren & Honda partnership next year!

The double decker diffuser (which gave Brawn an early march over its rivals in 2009) was initially a concept put forward by an ex Super Aguri design team member.

Honda's 1/2 scale wind tunnel also caused them and Mercedes massive problems all the way upto 2011 when they finally got their full scale WT operational.

The DDD concept was genius and suited the nature of the Mercedes engine down to a tee. Honda's own engine and gearbox may not have fared so well with that chassis.
