Second car - advice welcome
Discussion
Looking for a family car as all being well going to keep my 996 turbo.
So recommendations needed please struggling for ideas, budget wise not looking to spend much 10k tops and the wife wants something that is half decent - I like x5 and cayenne'a seem accessible at my price range however both are probably going to cost more to run than my turbo and it will be used for short journeys mainly and the odd road trip when the turbo cannot fit everything in/is not practical.

After my RS4 had the recaro seats stolen and was written off! I bought a 335d touring - debadged it as a car to keep on the street that was practical but also can shift when you want to...there aren't so many around but they are superb cars with a great chassis it might be pushing your price limit though a 330d is not so far off the 335d
I think he/she's thinking more in terms of an SUV type vehicle rather than sporty hatchback/saloon etc., something which it will be easy to load all the gear that comes with transporting a baby!
His missus is a proper sporty babe and has so far rebuffed our suggestions of anything less than Cayenne, X5, X3 etc.!!

But keep the suggestions rolling

Thanks for the replies so far and my Dad (Stubbsy 996) is correct my Mrs does have primarily 4x4 in her view and other alternatives have been declined! She seems to like the Volvo xc90 which are on par price range wise with x5's, going to keep my eye on a few ideally I can find a Volvo close by so we can go and look at one.
