997.2 turbo loud hissing noise

4 year old Turbo, 18K miles on the clock, used daily.

Have recently noticed that very occasionally when at around 40-50mph if I accelerate hard I can hear a loud hissing noise that sounds like it is coming from the rear left of the vehicle.

Any suggestions as to possible cause? Stuck wastegate? Something else?

Hose come loose?

I had an actuator rod pop out on Wednesday but that wasn't making any thing like that sort of sound.

Is it down on power?

I had the same issue was a loose boost hose after the turbo. The plastic hose that goes from the inter cooler outlets up to the inlet manifolds can work loose. They are held in via a socket like a bayonet fitting.

Doesn't seem down on power and the noise was intermittent. Guess I will have to speak to OPC as it is still under warranty. Thanks for the suggestions.

So in further playing with the car I found that it was intermittently down on power. I booked it in a few weeks ago but waited until after a 2 week business tour in Asia.

Took the car to my OPC today and they just called to say it was a clip that had come loose. Strictly speaking this isn't covered by the extended warranty but they have said they won't be charging me for it.

So that's a big thumbs up to Silverstone OPC!
