I am in process of replacing my daily driver.

The usual formula for me has been something really dull to cart kids and not offend clients in and then keep a proper car on the side. At the moment the proper car has grown into a few proper cars with a 6.2GT3 being the cream of the crop.

With the usual work/family (We have 4 kids under 13) commitments I have done all of 1 track day in the last few years plus a couple of local trips, so all of 400k’s in it. I love the car, seriously, for all the great things people say about them on here with which I agree, plus my own car nerd reasons.

So the question, for me tonight (I need to make decision this weekend as end of tax year here in Aust) is do I part with it and the current daily and get something kind of ok as a daily that wont offend anyone (Thinking 435i M Gran Coupe) or tough out another few years in another dull daily and start making more time for the car (and the other ones too)……anyone feel like slapping me out of it please do.

Cheers M

OK, when you are driving out and about in your GT3 and you drive past a 435i do you think OOOh, I wish I was driving that?

....... because I can guarantee if you buy a 435i you WILL think that if you see a GT3 on the road.

Hope that helps thumbup

you could say don't sell in a rising market, I did and lost out on 10k in 12 months.

depends if you are well off enough to keep it imo.

I was not and did not like driving it so it had to go, in hind site I should have stored it for 12months and made 10k more.

If the 6 RS is def 100k now the mk2 GT3 will be 60k soon enough. and I have seen ones for 67k already !!!

Crazy market.

Cars that dont get used, properly, are pointless in my world.

No matter how valuable, how rare, how beautiful or desirebale a car is, if it doesn't get used or ends up merely an asset or a commodity, then far be it that you spent all the money on something else.

When it all ends, you just have experiences and memories of people and emotions and all the wonderful times you have. 'Things' count for absolutely f&^&k all.

If you can make time for it, then do so and enjoy.

Are there times when you have leisure journeys of just you and one passenger? Why not try to use the car for more of those?

Are there particular times/clients at work where turning up in the GT3 wouldn't cause an issue?

Are you near roads that are worth getting up early for on the weekends?

Why not add some rear seat belts in the GT3 (see page 5 of this thread for pics) and use it a bit more often. Most people (clients included) would just think it's an old 996! biggrin

I rekon you need to use it more,it's easy to fall out of love with your toys if you are not experiencing them on a regular basis.

If you have to ask, you're not ready to sell.

It may be of tangential interest but with the OP being in Australia, fitting rear seatbelts is not an option (very expensive as need engineering approval to fit rear seats as well as the seatbelts) and GT3 values have never been below the equivalent of about £60k over there.

I believe there are as many GT3s in Australia as in the UK so the demand/supply balance is quite different there compared to the UK.

Thanks guys. I think best thing I can do is put all the cars on probation up until end of the year and make a decision then.

I agree that they should be used which is the whole reason I am wondering what to do with them and this car in particular.

I don't hold any of them with the expectation that prices will rise beyond what they cost to store and maintain anyway, I just like them.

So man math prevails again, the 435 is now my daily + sell nothing = best decision

Correct analysis on the belts and the supply/demand equation down here braddo. Demand on special cars is quite thin.

The first time I have seen cars less expensive in Australia than in Europe, maybe you guys will start buying them back now.

I am getting the engineers cert on the GT3 rear belts as I am getting him in to sign off the 952 and Carrera 3.2 that both came out the UK as well a re-licensing the old maserati. Should keep him busy for a day or so.
