Campsite on the coast

I've been trawling UKCS trying to find somewhere for a short break away but I really don't know what sort of ball park area to look at, much less any particular camp sites.

I'm trying to find somewhere around a couple of hours drive from the M25 that's right on the coast (as in a few minutes walk, and within sight of the sea) and fairly rural. I'm more interested in being somewhere scenic than having a load of fish and chip shops right on the doorstep - in fact being out of sight of any nearby towns is a pre-requisite.

Any ideas of any campsites (or even counties) to look into?

Freshwater in West Dorset, next to the village I grew up in, has its own beach.

Probably pushing 2.5 hours from M25, mind.

Thanks for the above, sounds like there are a few options. Quite like the look of Seatown, on further digging that looks very promising.

Grange Farm on the Isle of Wight. Cannot get closer to the sea.

It is in the middle of nowhere, has views of the Needles, owners friendly, short walk into Brighstone (good local pub). Pizza delivery, fish n chips short drive away in Freshwater.

Basic clean site which we love.....

I'd also recommend North Morte Farm, had a very nice break there a couple of years ago.

We've visited the Golden Cap site several times. There are some good walks along the Jurassic coast (can walk the hills to West Bay..... decent fish & chips ) and there's a pebble beach 5 minutes walk from the campsite. Other positives are that the camping areas are fairly wind free unlike the sister-site at the Highlands

Ha. Soon as i saw the title I thought of Morte Farm. Only way he'll do it in 2.5 hours from London is if he's got a helicopter though.

Tom's Field, in Langton Matravers, a couple of miles from Swanage. Views of Swanage Bay and the site itself is a few minutes walk from the Jurassic Coast. A great little site that we often go to. Purbeck is well worth a look if you haven't been before.
