Castle Combe Classic and Retro Car Day - June 2014
Discussion
The show has been running for a little while now and recently, maybe the last 3 years, the age of the cars attending have been getting younger and younger to the extent is was almost just another action day. This year though, they seemed to have changed all that and there was the return of seeing some really nice Classic Cars. I was quite lucky in getting on track as my car was a pre 2000 so just made it in before the cut off but I think in the future I may be squeezed out - understandably although I would still attend just to see some classics out on track!
A mixed day - the weather was ok in the early part of the morning with an absolute downpour late morning. Managed 2 track sessions 9:30 and 10:45 with the first one lasting a nice long time as the track was really quiet. I ended up coming in before the flag.
Anybody else go, I was in the Red Escort GTi pictured below, also included my video

It's an AED Bonito. A mid 80's kit car based on a Beetle. I'm going to Le Mans in it next weekend so didn't to bend it. I hope I didn't get in your way too much as it was my first time in it on a track and not sure what it was capable of but was ok if not as fast as your Escorts. Looks like we got out just in time as the heavens opened just after our session.
Saw you and the blue one going round, was the blue one using a CVH turbo?
Ive always loved escorts. Especially the mk V and VI. Are they as hard to look after as a lot of fords with the tin worm? Or reasonably easy to treat?
Your red escort sounded AWESOME! my old man even commented "what on earth has he got under there?" Which is a good question. Very nice induction roar
Also, I dont think combe care how old a car is. Several chrysler crossfire's going round, various modern clio's and other stuff. I thought my car was too modern really and it was a 98.
Same with other shows, at french car show there were a few BMW's and an MG on track.
