When not watching the racing, are there any nice places to go in the evening preferably car friendly for parking, good food etc?

You can go to Arnage, a little village near the track, all people go there at evening and there is a lot of places to eat.

A trip to La Chartre sur le Loir and the Hotel de France is a must do. Loads of le Mans history with the British teams from Aston Martin in the 1950's GT40;s and Porsche 917's through to modern day. Food is great too. Booking will be a must. No problem with parking and the town is very welcoming.
