EBC Redstuff pads. Whats the verdict on them?

From what I've heard they seem to be pretty good for the average car. Their performance does vary more depending on driving style compared to standard pads though. As AK said, not quite as good when cold due to the heat needed to increase their bite, but once up to a reasonable temperature they seem to perform quite well.

I was always if the opinion that 'Red Stuff' was always more suited for track use or vehicles like impreza's evo's by default. I had Green Styff on an st170, which I thought were good and seem to be a compromise from the red stuff.
My friend at the time had Red Stuff on his wrx sti and he wasn't that impressed as was only good once warmed up.

Heard numerous reports of the material separating from the backing material and even seen it happen on a friends car with a near brand new set. Seeing the pad material resting against the bell of the brake disc having 90% fallen out as a whole chunk didn't fill me/him with confidence in them or the brand tbh.
Am sure people have used them without issue but I'd rather not play lottery with brakes.

From my experience of red, green and yellowstuff pads I'll never use any of them again.
Reds are utterly useless when cold, yellows were ok and the greens just crumbled & fell apart, I'd fit some normal OE pads from mintex, ferodo or pagid over any EBC product and to anyone wanting to upgrade from OE pads I'd say simply avoid anything made by EBC

I ran Redstuff pads and EBC grooved discs on my Mondeo (TDCI :$) after getting fade on the standard ones on am airfield day with Hairy Don. I thought they were really good (I've run Mintex and Ferodo equivalents on previous cars and these performed about the same), but a few friends who ran them on their cars experienced the pads crumbling. I didn't see any evidence of that on mine, but traded the car in so didn't check the state of them that thoroughly.
Not sure what version they were though, but this would have been 2006ish so things may have improved since then.

t pads back in the mid-'00s. Since then, things have improved dramatically. It takes a very short time to destroy a good reputation, and ages to rebuild it.
For what it's worth, I run Redstuffs on my 328i. They're exceptional. Happy to stop when cold, and really good for fast road/track work. My best friend runs them on his 328i as well; he likes them a lot. Paired with grooved discs and the 330i braking setup, it stops very very quickly indeed. I will be gladly buying them again. They're very good value for money.
One of my other best friends uses Greenstuffs on his Civic VTi. Again, it stops very well.
As I recall, Greenstuffs are for light/medium weight cars that have up to 200bhp. Redstuff pads are for heavier cars with more than 200bhp. Yellowstuff are track pads. Bluestuff are the intermediate track pads. Orangestuff are the new race ones.

Just because most MR2 MK3 owners (that I've read on forums) have preferred the stock owns over yellowstuff, so it might be worth getting genuine Toyota pads if yours aren't.
I've personally had a couple of poor experiences of the quality of EBC products, the last one being 6 months or so ago suggesting that tales of "yes we were st but we're OK now" are possibly not true.
You'll always find people moaning about stuff on the internet but I think for something like brake components I'd go to a company that doesn't have a massive question mark about their quality/consistency hanging over them.
