Scottish Highlands trip......PICS PICS PICS!!
Discussion
Last week I used my Mako beast 'properly' for the first time since I've had it!
A spontaneous decision a week last Monday saw us set off early the day after from Leyland in Lancs to the Scottish Highlands for a 3-day blast. My house mate dubbed the trip...The Best of British...me in th'Aston and he was using his Triumph 675 Street Triple.
We detoured off the M6 north to take in Kendal and the A6 over Shap then back onto the Motorways to Glasgow, then onto the A82 north past Loch Lomond. We arrived in Fort William late afternoon then to our base for the next two nights up the A82 to Invergarry.
The following day we took the A87 (the best and most stunning road I've ever been on with superb scenery) to Kyle of Lochalsh, and onto the Isle of Skye up to Portree. We then headed back down to the ferry across to Mallaig and took the A890 back to Fort William. We arrived back in Invergarry by 22.30 then headed up to the southern tip of Loch Ness to get some dusk pictures....it was light till 11pm!!
The third day saw us head back south with a detour to Helensburgh looking for the submarine base which we missed due to a wrong turn...doh.
The weather was dry and sunny for the most part and the middle day saw the finest Scotland had to offer as you can see below....
Total mileage 856 (the car achieved 10000 miles just outside Kyle of Lochalsh rendering it completely worthless now!)
Average mpg 21.2
Average speed 48mph
Fuel cost approx £230
Worth every penny

Some fantastic scenery by the looks of it, decent pictures too, thanks for sharing. Good to see the car being used, don't worry about the mileage though. Mine is just approaching 20k so is worth even less, doubt I'd be able to give it away but you just have to use it as much as possible, amazing things

guessing you had no trouble getting it on and off the ferries?
Thanks for the complementary comments! We were so lucky to get such fantastic weather coinciding with time off work. And I must admit those photos are some of the best I've ever taken
We only travelled on one ferry from the SW corner of Skye to Mallaig. I drove on/off the ferry dead slow and had no problems with the ramps which had very gradual slopes.

They're a proper wheelie machine, a right laugh to chuck around twisty roads too. And with a full race system on they are the best sounding bike I know of
