Hi,

Does anyone know what the timeline on warranty paint correction on an Aston Martin DB9 is ?

My Volante has paint bubbling around the rear light, drivers door handle and the drivers door windscreen pillar. Is there any other members out there with similar paint bubble problems.

Seems that ever time it rains the water collates in the door handle. I took it to Aston workshop in Knutsford and the y told me that the would only pay for £250 out of the £1,000 re-spray bill, with the car being under full warranty !!….

ThiS is a common issue and there are many threads on it here, have you tried the search function?

I'm not sure what you mean by "Aston workshop". When I got my car at just over 5 years old (with a year's warranty) from a London main dealer I didn't spot the tiny bubble it had on the door just below the mirror mount. When a friend spotted it I took it to my local dealer (a member of the same group I had bought the car from). They dealt directly with AML and the corrective work was done without a contribution from me.

From what I've read on here there appears to be a degree of variability in the contribution that AML will make. Indeed, Paul the service manager at Stratstone Derby was pleasantly surprised when they agreed to fund 100% for the work on my car. Have you taken it back to where you bought it from? Was that a Main Dealership?

There is no paint correction warranty on an Aston.
There is a 10 year corrosion warranty, which proects you if it rusts from the inside out i.e. not stone chips etc. Rust is oxidisation of steel. There are no external steel panels.

If the car has a small number of owners, and has been regularly services and inspected by an AM dealer, then you might get the factory to make a contribution. Which will be less than taking it to a bodyshop of your choice and just getting it done.

Had two lots under 'goodwill...' I got 30% off an overcharge of 60% so I only paid 30% ish over the top. And I've got two more to do, I reckon just go to a decent reputable body shop and get it done yourself.
