Just a quick heads up for those that don't know.

From tomorrow, if you are on the 3 mobile phone network, there is no charge for using your phone in France.

3 have added France to their 'Feel at Home Abroad' list, so using your mobile will use your normal allowance and not be subject to additional charges. Two points though, you can't use more than 25GB of data and no tethering.

Just in time for Classic and very handy if you need to call home/text your mate/browse PH/pass the time while alone in your tent biggrin

Any idea if this is on PAYG as well? And if so can I go to a 3 store today and pick up a PAYG sim to use at the weekend?

EDIT: Yes it is on PAYG, but I needed to get a SIM last month for it to be valid:

To benefit from Feel At Home, SIM only customers must have been with Three for more than 30 days.

To be fair, they've kept it pretty quiet. I went in to my local 3 shop to find out if they did a 'bolt-on' for abroad use; after a brief chat, the sales guy informed me that France is covered from the 1st of July. Couldn't believe my luck TBH.

I'm on Orange(EE)PAYG and they have cut their roaming charges from July. They also do pre-pay bundles for voice and data. I used them last year but didn't bother this year, on the few occasions I needed to talk to my travelling buddy we did it by text, which was very reasonable.
