Cerbera 4.5 windows and boot rubbers
Discussion
I have just purchased a 4.5 and wanted to just ask a couple of questions about what I would class as minor maintenance.
I want to replace the boot rubber as its not pushing the book up when trying to release and also I wanted to sort out slightly rattling on both drivers and passengers windows.
Can anyone help as to if these tasks are simple or should I leave to a professional.
The car is booked in to APM at the end of July so I can get him to carry out the work but wondered what people think.

Don't know about anyone else but when I press the boot release badge it simple unlocks the boot. As far as I know it was never meant to open the boot for you. (assuming I have understood your question correctly.
The windows are and easy thing to get a look at. You can take the door cards off using three alan bolts at the bottom, two at the top and two at the rear. (take the upper rear one out last because you need to hold the door card once you have dropped it off.
you might find out why its rattling once you get your head in the door.
good luck

iamrtl, thanks for the response the boot opens but with a little help from me lifting whilst still pressing the button. My understanding is that it pops up slightly?

Yeah it will lift of the catch and no more. You shouldnt need to pull at it.
I had to get a catch fabricated for mine a few weeks back as it had probably been slammed in the past. The catch in the back was wobbley and packed with fasteners. When i took it apart i found that the fibreglass the catch was mounted to had been broken at one side so we made up a plate to mount over the existing fibreglass.
Instead of replacing the rubber i would check to see if a couple of washers my raise yours up enough that it releases just by pressing the button.
