A lovely warm afternoon and me my wife and the dog are out for a walk. The route back takes us past the entrance to our lovely listed local Victorian station.
Outside on the cobbles in the heat sits a green Aston purring away to its self. As we approach I see it's a very tidy DB7 with a nice personalised plate, but I guess it's an early 21st Century model.
As I pass the driver , with window open grins at my cute looking dog. I give him a nod of approval at his car which his return grin shows he appreciates.
A nice littoe incident made even better by the fact that he was a little old man maybe 80is, complete with a brown grandad trilby hat.
Isn't it great? He could be pooltling to the shops in one of those horrible blue coloured egg shaped Picassos which are favoured by the senior citizen motorist. But no, this old boy has a DB7.
My grandad was great, but I wish I'd had a grandad like this bloke as well.

There is an older retired gentleman that lives in my street that owns a very clean DB7 in what looks like navy. He drives the wheels off it everywhere he goes though which isnt so cool in a built up area.
I think there may be something about my street as another old gentleman at least in his 70's drives £500 worth of green Proton. That isnt so interesting until you see his weekend toy, a bright canary yellow Nobel M12!! Wonderful, a man after my own heart

yep, this. A few years ago I bought an Elise... all red and shiny 
When one of our kids saw it they commented about us spending their inheritance. Now that may have been a joke, but it really struck a chord with me, and in a way I was upset that such a comment was made. but it did make me think....So you are right, enjoy it while you can... life can change in the blink of an eye...
We swapped the Elise for a shiny red AMG V8... there goes a bit more inheritance! and a bit more every time it goes up the street at 16 mpg
My ex-father in law used to make me smile.
White hair but a smart looking fella used to have a Calibra 4x4 Turbo with full GM body kit (this is in the 90's when the Calibra held some presence) then bought a Clio V6. Had many a 'play' when younger lads would assume he was just out for a pootle round.
Nope he would ensure each horsepower was used on every journey

If you want to see 'mature' people of both sexes enjoying cars go to a hillclimb or sprint .

My dad recently had a heart op, and will be eligable for his bus pass in 4 years.
As a treat to himself, because he feels he deserves it, he's going to buy a honda fireblade motorcycle. A step up from his gsxr750 and his first 1000 cc missile.
I couldnt ever see him not riding something incredibly fast and wrapped in plastic bodywork.
