Is it a narcotic or a type of music?

If it was music it would be gabber. I am referring to gamma-Aminobutyric acid.

Ive used phenibut its gaba that crosses the blood brain barrier.

Its good for social situations/anxiety, and if you mix with beer it literally doubles the strength so be careful lol.

You'll need to train hard to get any results. And, as above, it should be phenibut.

HMB's quite fun though.

It's not a fat burner but it does increase lean body mass which means you'll burn more calories which means etc..

I have been trying gaba for improved sleep and it certainly works for that. But yesterday morning I felt oddly more gregarious than normal. No other explanation than the gaba that I can think of.

Goldblum - phenibut's a synthetic "improvement" on gaba isn't it?

As curtainrail says it's GABA adapted so it goes straight to the brain.
There used to be GHB, which lots of bbuilders used to take and I never heard of any bad side effects, but the rave crowd got hold of it after deciding it was similar to ecstasy (they must have taken a huge amount or it was far purer then the stuff I tried) and got it banned. However 5-HTP is a dopamnine activator which is reputed to aid sleep and training. Tried it a few years ago and it seemed to work...

I'm afraid I don't remember - it was years ago.

Phenibut is used in Russian since the 1960s for anxiety and depression. It carries no licence for this purpose in the EU, so it has never passed safety checks.

Toxic effects have also been reported previously, the main issue however is there is no data to know if it is safe;

If you care about your health you'd be wise not to touch chemicals of unknown safety and effectiveness.

ETA: Also "GABA", isn't absorbed through the BBB so you'd be as well shoving the tablets in the bin.

I can categorically tell you that this is incorrect. Gaba is having a profound impact upon my sleep - I'm sleeping as deeply as I did when I was a child. I haven't slept that way since I was about 18.

Magnesium had improved my sleep, but Gaba gives me even deeper sleep.

I don't plan to keep on them indefinitely though.

If you can provide evidence I'd be more than happy to alter my position.

But current thinking is that it does not cross the blood brain barrier. It's possible it has some other undocumented effect like on blood pressure perhaps which helps, but certainly not in the brain.

My understanding is it's another alternative therapy. So it has either been proven not to work, or never been proven to work, by definition.

I've just ordered some phenibut. Going to keep the dose low. I am feeling a hell of a lot of lethargy recently - as in come lunch time I want to go into a proper deep sleep! I'm assuming my regular nights sleep isn't good enough.

Interesting - I recognise those symproms. What is phenibut and how/where do you obtain it?

You're having problems sleeping so you're going to take an unlicenced drug, never proven to work, procured from the internet?

By the way you'll almost certainly need to inject it as it'll otherwise be broken down by the gut.

A self imposed tax on the stupid.

You seem to dismiss anything unproven as ineffective. However, just because a drug hasn't been tested and approved for our domestic market doesn't mean it is not effective.

Of greater concern to me are anecdotal accounts of the speed with which phenibut users become dependent and the difficulty they have coming off it. I personally wouldn't use it as a sleep aid because it seems likely to exacerbate the problem long-term.

I got some off eBay.

It is meant to be addictive but I only plan on taking 1 cap (500mg) every other day for 7-10 days then have a few days off.

There is quite a lot of information on the net about it, so worth reading if you plan on supplementing it.
