Recommend me a new (used) car

It's finally time for me to say goodbye to my cherished but abused mk5 fiesta zetec-s. I've gotten 12 years and 170,000 miles of motoring pleasure out of it and it owes me nothing.
I'm in the the market for something similar or maybe a touch bigger (focus?). Budget no more than £8000, i don't imagine the fiesta will have any trade in value beyond scrap.
Things i like about the fiesta - massively fun to drive, fast enough, great round corners, nice revvy engine, sporty styling cues without looking chavvy. It has withstood years of abuse on camping and climbing trips so what whatever replaces it will need to be as hard wearing.
Whatever I get I'll probably just run in to the ground again so not that interested in resale value.
Another fiesta or focus seems like an obvious choice but what else it is out there that compares?
