hi there, i am thinking of getting one of the submariners with a green bezel, going rate seems to be about £4500 to £6000 depending on where you look...... two questions.
1) where would be a good reputable dealer where i could buy a 2nd hand version without buying a fake...
2) i have a planet ocean that i might keep or sell to put towards the new watch, where would i be able to get an idea of how much i would get for it.
thanks for any replies...

A 16610LV is well over priced imo, so I would look to buy private, ebay is a good start. If you buy from a jeweller / watch trader then you will pay a collosal amount. Make sure it has been serviced, too, as even the latest models are now over 5 yrs old. If I were you i'd sell your watch privately as you will lose 500, at least, if PX'ing. In order to get a quote here for your Omega you need to state age, condition, service history, boxes and paperwork present, etc.

cheers, i was thinking that a shop would be the way to go to make sure i dont get a " wrong un " how do make sure that you dot get ripped off?
my planet ocean is about 6 years old, i have the box and papers etc, its being serviced but i dont have any recpeits etc although the shop in bond st might have records? its got the black rubber strap on it, which is going to need replacing.... what would be the ball park value wise ask would rather keep it rather than take a bath on it

The 16610LV commands strong money because they are comparatively rare and very desirable. Buy well and you will have an appreciating asset.
Ebay is possibly the last place to buy. Dominic at Hackett Watches may well be able to help or there is Chrono24 or Chronotrader, Iconic or Watchfinder.

without wishing to sound like a numpty, is the green bezel submariner a " 16610LV " ? the one that i like is the one with the black face and the green bezel as opposed to the one with the green face and bezel....
cheers
Yes. 16610LV = the 'Kermit' with the black face and green bezel.cheers
I'd definitely talk to Dom Hackett on these forums and http://www.hackettwatches.com/ as he'll probably find you one and may be able to sort a P/X

I've been pleased with the prices he's paid me for watches and always gets some nice pieces in.

Hardly rare, just rarer than the LN of the same reference. Ebay is excellent if you know what you're looking for, and obviously feedback, whether you can collect watch etc. I'm not sure why some think that every watch on ebay is fake or the seller is going to rip you off? ks. Blowers are overpriced
Iconic watches had a preowned hulk (116610LV) recently - they also have 10% off new stock (euro)
Keep an eye on new turfers but they are rare - ask simon_e on there he may have one or links to one.
Chrono24
Bought mine new from iconic watches but the 116610LV hulk - it's the ceramic version with updated case and bracelet is definitely worth a look. As said the kermit 16610LV is fairly strong on pricing. Being a 50th anniversary and now phased out watch.
It's certainly a fairly unique combo for the classic sub shape - some prefer the black dial and interchangeable bezel
Ps good watch reputable dealer : http://www.chrono24.com/en/rolex/submariner-date-l...
Uk dealers really milking the 16610lv prices
You can pick up a much newer ceramic sub for the same or cheaper than the kermit prices.
Keep in mind a 2008 kermit ideally needs a 350 quid service ideally.

Agreed BP. Andy. Buy the Hulk if you like it. You'll get BNIB for the same price. The updates are worth it alone. Improved bracelet, movement upgrade, ceramic bezel. Both same size at 40mm. I personally do not like the green dial but you might. Please think hard before buying a 50th LV. The ones that should command the high price, and do, are the original 50th anniversary year models, back in 2004.
As Explorer said but just to add the latest ceramic subs do have a slightly updated case shape. They do keep the same size but they have wider lugs so its a slighter squarer case shape which some people don't like. It looses the classic lines of the sub.
I'm a big fan of the new shape
Also as said the 116610LV has a green dial. It is not everyones cup of tea and if you are picky with colours and clothes matching, especially if you wear a lot of shirts you might feel green is too limiting.
In which case a black ceramic sub is a great alternative.
Some people love the chameleon nature of the green sub-c. If you are lucky a local AD may have one to try on. Black sub-c is practically unbeatable if in doubt.

is the one on the link a hulk? (is that there real name or a nickname?)
andy
my link to chrono24? andy
That is a Kermit (nickname) / 16610LV (the 50th anniversary watch rolex produced) - which has a black dial. It has an aluminium bezel, the classic case shape and the old style bracelet.
This is a Hulk / 116610LV (the green version of the latest sub ceramic) - as Explorer said, green ceramic bezel, green dial, updated case shape / bracelet, wider lugs and solid links (i think). This is a new watch : http://www.iconicwatches.co.uk/rolex-submariner-gr...
You can of course look for an all green sub-c on chrono24 too. Going to be around high 4k and low 5k for a reputable dealer.
Here is a pic of my 116610LV right next to the window
This is normally the most green it will look, perhaps slightly bolder in sunlight too

If you don't like it, discount and look at the green bezel black dial version, 16610LV or get the incredible black ceramic version.
My green changes colour and looks black indoors and a graphite colour bezel in indoors light. sort of takes on its surroundings in low light. I love it.

i am thinking that the hulk is a bit too bling for me, hence i am thinking the kermit as its a bit different with the green but not to OTT.... only my opinion of course, like you all say not as desirable as the hulk but a little bit cheaper..... and if i get it from abroad then the exchange rate is pretty good also..... would 10% under what the are asking be a bit cheeky?
