Droplinks 450SE
Discussion
Anyone? I'm looking for something a bit more substantial than stock.
I'm also looking at upgrading the front brakes with 283mm discs. Is that enough or should I go with 300mm? There's quite a price difference.
Finally, bigger injectors if we're still on the low impedance ones with bigger intake base. It's a late 1989 build car.
Thoughts?

Hi mate...Not sure about drop links....I thought that the 450SE had a 4 pot braking system as standard, They certainly had bigger brakes....Also I'm pretty sure that the injectors and ancillaries were all specific to that engine?...Are you having problems stopping?...Is the engine not running right?....Cheers...Ziga
Thanks guys.
I'm just getting to know the Wedge, and I'm probably judging it too much by my V8S. It's not running badly, just not brilliantly. My V8S keeps up easily, and it shouldn't!
The brakes frankly require a massive heave before you get any response, the V8S brakes are much more positive and progressive.
Granted, I have done a fair amount of mechanical work to the V8S over the last 4 years, but it all leads me to think the Wedge needs a fair bit of sorting before it's right.
Got to say though, for drama nothing beats the Wedge, and put the two cars together you know which one small children want to be photographed in front of!

Standard size front brakes are fine -maybe the feel is down to the pads you have. Might be worth overhauling the calipers with new seals and pistons, check the rotor thickness, change the pads, fit braided brake lines and change the fluid. New rotors will be expensive, but you may not need them. Bear in mind the whole system is 25 years old now. Rears suffer more - being inboard there's not much cooling (on track days) and the calipers can catch all the road dirt. Pistons can easily seize, and pads may be a bit crispy if they've been used hard repeatedly. Discs can corrode as there's not a huge amount of pressure going to the rear, and it's a pain to change them (removing handbrake and main caliper and unbolting the driveshaft to diff flange. Spending money on doing all of that was my route, rather than new bigger front calipers and rotors, which, IMHO, are not needed.
I have the vented Granada Discs/Hi Spec set up and I think its a great upgrade. The only issue I have is squealing brakes which seems to be easing off. I went for the cheaper fast road pads and will probably go to the next level (Green Stuff/Mintex) when I next service the car when I put the Hi Specs on. In terms of brake feel etc got no issues as the pads have not bedded in yet but they will get better...
