Hi, I had to travel on business to Bedford today and came across a Wedge in a layby with the bonnet up. Engine was not running correctly and kept stalling. Had a chat with the guy while he fiddled with AFM and idle screw - he was heading over to Wrexham. Think he said his sign in was Flipflop (or something similar)? Anyway hope the Wedge made it - he said it had been laid up for 2 years without much use so it was it's first decent run for a long time.

One thing he did say was that his engine was putting out 220bhp with a standard 3.5 with an adjustable fuel regulator. All looked pretty standard under the bonnet. Can an adjustable regulator give an extra 30bhp for a standard engine?

Hi mate...Not sure about that many horses just from an adjustable FPR...I did notice when i took it to AMD Dyno a while back that the fuel pressure was around 42psi..The fuelling was coming out at 14% and i think it should be 11-12%..This produced 184bhp...When i backed the fuel pressure off to 38psi i lost 5bhp..I guess its possible but you hear so many stories and its hard to believe it without seeing it on a Dyno and then they can be in-accurate up to 20bhp...

I guess if the injectors can handle the pressure then more fuel and more air would give more power.....I know it makes the Wedge feel a bit more responsive over the solid state FPR...Some people say it makes no difference and some don't/Wont fit them but i have seen a positive result from mine and its also a good warning system for the fuel pump failing...Especially with a gauge to monitor the pressure....Ziga

TVR did a 225bhp conversion (up from 197bhp std) which I think was a cam change and maybe a bit of head work. Whether it needed the fuel pressure increasing or not, I don't know.
