What do you consider low profile.

I'm swapping some 17" (45f 40r) staggered alloys for some 16" 55 profile. Chatting to a pal saying I was losing the low profiles he said I didn't think those were low.

What do you consider low?

The 40 or whatever number is a percentage of the width, so matters not what the wheel diameter is.

I had 70's on another car, I couldn't get less than 55's on this one unless I went for something really skinny.

I remember when 70 series tyres were referred to as "low profile".

yup 255/40 x 17 going down to 225/55 16's

<35% = low profile
40-45% = lower normal
50-55% = higher normal
>60% = caravan tyres
