Can anyone help me in regards the area where the middle of the bonnet sits. Its a flat area like a bridge/rest for the bonnet to sit on.
Any suggestions of what I can use to cushion that area.
I've used insulation tape with foam but never lasts that long.

Some cars have a couple of mushroom shaped rubber things that go through holes in the supporting fibreglass bit. You can buy them from the usual places eg racetechdirect.

Here's another link to the mushroom stops

Bear in mind tho what clearance you have. I have the soft side of velcro on mine if I put anything thicker on it it will have two effects. one push the bonnet up causing problems when locking the bonnet as it will sit higher or two push the scuttle panel down onto the intake pipes.

Hmm Started of reasonable but the post/handling charges is ridiculous

Yes, all these dealers charge plenty for post and packing, usually around £8 or so even for 2 little pieces of rubber.

The mark up between Racetech Direct - £2.94+vat - and Racing Green - £1.17+vat - shows it does pay to shop around. phone

I grabbed a bag of these from my local DIY store, cut to size, job jobbed. Just replace them every couple of years...plenty left over!

Mine has a strip of rubber/foam rubber along the length of the support ('01 4.5).
Could you use draft excluder ?

You've reminded me that I have some foam tape that I used to wedge in my Red Top battery, that would be ideal to renovate the padding on mine!
