the new MX5 - to be lanched in September

I hope it follows in the footsteps of the last three models... Due release in September according to this report.

Mazda has a lot of focus on weight saving techniques now, much more than when the 3rd generation was launched. Their design language has also become a lot sexier with a lot more real brand identity since the 3rd generation was launched.

I just hope they keep the engines naturally aspirated.

Thank goodness for that! If ever a Japanese car needed to "get back to its roots" it's the MX5.

I've read that mazda are one of the few car makers still investing in n/a technologies.

whats it matter no one on pistonheads would even dream of buying it new, and everyone that does is a fool, so there wont ever be a £1000 one for sale, so we will never know the joys of it.

I agree 100%, really looking forward to seeing this - their current designs are quite eye catching IMO so I have high hopes!!

High number of sales

Its a 2 door cabriolet and not exactly practical so there will likely be lots for sale after 12 months hence the loss of value

I agree they have used some clever ideas to make their petrol engines run as cooler so they can be run slightly higher compression. It's not a huge gain though and everybody else is focusing on hybrids/turbos.
I think this new Mx-5 will probably be the last NA one.
