Well, if they want to stand in an area that is supposed to be kept clear when aircraft are landing...... all it needs is for one of those lemmings to get hit and that'll be it for Waddo for good.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06o7fzcE1Hk
Other than that, it was a great show! Highlights for me (of the bits I saw) were the Hawker Hunters and their "blue noise", the diamond 9 barrel roll by the Reds, and of course the Vulcan giving it the beans. It is a huge shame the show will not be on next year (who resurfaces a runway in the middle of show season?!) but we will be looking at joining the lineup at RIAT instead.
I must have had at least a hundred people through the Avro cockpit each day, most of them kids wanting to play at being an airline pilot, but also a fair few adult sim enthusiasts and real life pilots. At least I got to sit down inside during quiet spells - my colleagues hanging off the side of the Phantom (and that's a LONG way up in the air!) had a permanent queue all day!
Rich - it was good to meet you and the rest of the Shackleton crew, you have a brilliant project there and I cannot wait to see 963 back in the air, hopefully in formation with the BBMF Lanc
It was also a real pleasure for me as an exhibitor to get the chance to mingle with the pilots during breakfast and after the show, due to us being billeted in the same accomodation. Twice I ended up sitting at the next table to Martin Withers, who might as well be God as far as I'm concerned, but sadly never had the chance to go over and speak to him.

Being serious for a moment it was a great day out. Arrived about twenty past ten, no traffic problems and just in time to witness a departing Sentinel melt away into the rapidly-dissipating rain clouds.
Thinking seriously about RIAT for the first time next year.

Was a very good show, the weather wasn't looking promising Saturday but it still cleared up by the time flying begun.
Unfortunatley I got about an hour to look around over the 2 days which is not enough. Highlights for me have to be midair squadron for the canberra and hunter display, chinook display for making the whole crowd stop and wave. And the BBMF spitfire and typhoon formation.
I got excited by the vulcan take-off thinking they've upped their game this year but it went all boring after that.

A nice article that I read this morning actually. Obviously it's well documented that VTS are trying to preserve the aircraft for various reasons, however I'd prefer them to go out on a high throw the aircraft about like they used too and then we can all remember how great the last Vulcan show season was instead of trying to draw 2/3 years of further dull displays Gassing Station | Boats, Planes & Trains | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
