New sky box magic eyes don't work
Discussion
As per title. Just had a new box from sky. Told the guy that if it affected the magic eyes (one for kitchen 1 for bedroom) not to do anything. I now find myself with a new box and pictures on all tv!s but I can't change channels in the other rooms. I have tried google but could someone explain in simple terms how to sort this out as sky just wanted to give me a free months movies when I asked them. Many thanks in advance. V frustrated at the mo.
New Sky HD boxes do not have RF outputs, you need an IO adaptor, do you have one of these?

As said you need to make sure the RF power is switched on, ON HD boxes go to Services >settings > 001 select >RF ?

Paid £10 to sky over the phone when the fitter was here for the adaptor so that's ok. I've tried an amplifier as I had a new one bought ages ago for something else. The packet said magic eye compatible. Is there anything else I can do. I've tried to connect the old box bak up but all I get is a no signal message. Guess this is because my card has been coded to the new box.
Sounds like he has just not turned what was the RF2 function on.
New boxes are Services 001
The. Scroll down and across to the RF Out tab.
Then highlight the channel number, try to be around the 58 - 60 mark, any higher and you risk LTE interference (mobile phones) but this really depends on where you are and what transmitter your reserving for Freeview channels.
Then to down again and turn RF Power ON.
Then Green button to save.
Hth.

The power is on and I've got red light on both of the eyes I just can no longer change channel via the eyes. The picture is fine
You might have tried this already, but I was caught out by just plugging in the IO Link adapter into a new Sky+ HD box a while back.Had exactly your symptoms, pictures ok but no control. I'd plugged the IO Link in whilst the box still had power.
A full power cycle of the box fixed it for me.
Perhaps try turning the box off at the mains for a minute.
They can but need to be reprogrammed via a few key presses....

I hope this helps others. The sky fitter came back today with a different box which had the rf2 port but no wifi. This has now cured the majic eye problem all things working. He then fitted a small wifi box which sits on top of the sky box. So all is sorted. I now need to buy a couple of new remotes as the old ones are not compatible with the new box. Happy bunny.
The IO link does not have the same current supply capabilities as a set top box with built in UHF modulator and cannot be used to power an amplifier that has magic eyes connected to it. The magic eye consumes current which in turn causes the output of the IO link to fall below 9v and then IR commands will not be sent to the STB.
Three potential fixes for this, if power is available at the amplifiers location either purchase an amplifier that uses a mains plug or purchase the mains adaptor for your amplifier if it's compatible with one (global F140 is a good example) or use something like a global DC inserter at the STB end to inject higher current capacity. Last option would be to use a triax branded IO link that uses a mains adaptor and had higher capacity than the global IO link that sky engineers keep on their vans
