Mk5 Golf GTI, or a Focus ST. Personally I'd take the FN2 Type R over either of them but it may scupper your ideas of taking four in comfort as it is solely a 3 door, plenty of room in the back once you are in there though!

Granted it is not the most economical but look at it! Also seats 4 comfortably.

But realistically... a 330i would fit your criteria.

If you don't mind being a bit more squeezed, how about an Astra VXR? Enjoyed both of mine.
