Another Silverstone first timer.

I realise that this thread is late in the day, but needed some last minute advice.
Will be attending Silverstone on Saturday and Sunday, leaving from Harpole, Northampton, near the M1. It's usually a half an hour drive, so on the Saturday was planning on leaving about 7.45am
Am I likely to get stuck in a butt load of traffic at that time on a Saturday, or will it be okay? We're parking at the circuit.
Secondly, what time should we be aiming to arrive on the Sunday, from what I understand, very early is the best?
Is there much to do in between races whilst you're racing?
With regards to leaving, looking at the schedule, I don't mind staying to watch the GP2/GP3 on the Saturday, and on the Sunday we were going to have a mooch around the stages after the race. Does this sound okay to miss the 'worst' of the traffic?
