You may need to boot to the recovery console and perform an authoratative restore.

I'm not a Veritas expert, but I know someone here is... I just can't remember who!
I do know with Tapeware a disaster recovery doesn't fully restore the system state. Once the restore is completed:
The work around to this issue is to perform an additional restore after the DR is complete. If the system is a windows domain controller, on the first boot after performing the DR you will need to start the system in "Directory Services restore mode". Then perform a restore of just AD. Then reboot the system and perform the restore of the rest of the system.
Might be worth a call to Veritas, I understand their support people are actually knowledgeable and helpful!
Either way, if you only have one of your servers available, you will end up with a lame AD and you'll have to clean up the replication etc once you have her online.
If it's a small network, it may be quicker to build a new AD and just restore the data, then reset permissions and users etc. Impossible for me to say as I don't know network size etc.

veritas have said oh no the backup hasnt worked even though we have done everything right backing up the system state. what the
am i paying more for their product for over the backup software that i get with w2k?!?
anyway in major poo now - the server that is down was a dc and i think had most things on it eg dhcp/dns etc. we can get c drive back just not the system state things. i have another dc that has active direc etc with all the users on is there any easy way of redoing the server and getting all the users etc across without having to do them from scratch?
